Education as I have known is life itself and a path to success. As a highly motivated graduate of Philosophy at Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria, I have gained distinctive ideas in different research areas. With my four years’ consistent efforts and a keen interest in books and writings I have decided to follow my passion for books, I there wish to delve deeper into the subject to be able to carry out independent study and analysis in Rarebook and Digital Humanities in France as one of the dream countries for international students.
My passion for rare and early books and digital humanities was not limited to a narrow range. It was motivated by my researches on the early/ancient philosophers and their treatise, books, and writings. The writer-philosopher George Santayana postulated: “ Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat.” In other words, emphasizes the importance of reminiscence of the past. Books of course old books have been the principal harbinger of history and past events in the human race. This gives primacy and credence to books over other sources of history, to the developments, changes, and revolutions in human society. Rare books remove our blinds and its importance cannot be left out in our present world.
In this very sense, I am confident and optimistic that at the end of this program, I will be able to achieve a good level of knowledge of early books, writers, and the area of digitalization. Furthermore, be able to revitalize the values and importance of early books and make available for online accessibility which is a vital blueprint in this 21st century. Consequently, give me a high level of competence in rare and early books that will edge my work as a Rarebook consultant and Bookseller. I, therefore, invite prospective researchers, students all over the world to have a chance or preview of this course if not in Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté, in any other institution or research organization.
