Why am I here ? That’s actually a good question. Coming in this master wasn’t my first choice. I have two bachelor’s degrees : one in English literature and civilisation (what we call here in France : LLCER Anglais, oh yes by the way I’m French) that I did here in Besançon, and one in book trade. I wanted to do something link to books because, believe it or not, I love reading books 😉 During my year at Limoges, where I did my bachelor in book trade, I really enjoyed learning all about the history of the books, the cataloguing and doing my internship in such a great place full of history. To go back to the orignal question, I found this master by chance actually. There were very few places available, so at no point did I think I’d get in. But here I am !
For me, this master allows me to consolidate what I’ve already learnt about rare books as well as the digital side. I do appreciate the preservation of the past and the possibility to extend it into the digital realm, it is a declaration that history is not to be forgotten. So, that’s why this side is really rewarding, especially GIMP and HTML/CSS, which will be quite useful for the future. The master is very dense but very interesting in all ways. And at the end, even if at first I didn’t see myself here, I’m really grateful to be in this program around amazing and fun people.
