The world of books can grab you and transmit you through the time. It’s a magic world and I’m happy that I can touch it.
My name is Tamara Glushetckaia, I graduated a technical school on the program «Publishing» and then I got BA in Library and Information Science in Saint-Petersburg State University of Culture. Actually, I didn’t know what I want to do after my graduation and I decided to think about it for a year. Through this period I worked like an information analyst. After the whole my educational way I knew how to create magazines, how to write articles for newspapers, how to analyse information. But it wasn’t enough for me. Every time when I pondered I understood I would like to spend my life with books. It’s my passion.
One day I found a master program «Rare books and Digital Humanities» in Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté in Besancon, I read about this program, I studied the curriculum and decided that I have to try to apply this program. I was very interested in this program because of its relevance to my interests: book studies and Open Access to the book cultural world through their digitalization. For example, my graduation thesis at university was related by «University repository: experience in creating and using».
After some months of study on this master’s program I can say that I was right. Here I started to study Latin and Greek, History of book. Just imagine I can understand what rare books about and I can try to know the history of books. Besides, I have an amazing possibility to know how to create website or catalog. It inspires me to think what a project I want to realise and I have all possibilities to do it.
I believe this program enables me to widen and deepen my knowledge of the book world and to develop professional competences in this field. I guess this master program is a unique opportunity for me to learn process of digitalization.
