Although Digital Humanities (DH) is a complex field, its definition to me is simple: DH is a field that combines the humanities with digital technology, transforming how we create, study, and share knowledge about human culture and history.
My first encounter with DH came when I began my Master’s in « Rare Book and Digital Humanities ». Before that, I admit I had never even heard the term. Now, with a deeper understanding, I can appreciate more clearly how digital tools and resources have shaped the way we interact with knowledge. What impresses me most is how long DH has been in our lives, and I’ve never realized it.
Essentially, DH is a bridge between traditional humanities disciplines and the modern tools that make in-depth analysis and wide dissemination possible. For me, this intersection between technology and humanistic study is what makes DH so unique and essential in today’s rapidly advancing digital age.
